“The blank canvas is my space to be free. To be bold. To be expressive. To experiment with colors, lines, shapes and textures, following the path the painting takes me. Abstracting from an interesting object or my imagination, I invite you to follow my journey.” Barbara Royal
Barbara began her journey studying art at Auburn University. She continues to grow through the process of painting as well as through workshops and instruction with talented mentors including Joe Perrin, Iris Lee, Alan Tiegreen and, most recently, Leslie Newman.
She loves to experiment with tools to apply the paint, then with scraping through to reveal other layers of paint beneath.
Her numerous awards from juried shows include: Anderson County Art Show, MacArthur Goodwin, judge; Paint the Waterfront, Montgomery, AL, Dr. Pat Yuhoasz, judge; Jubilee Southern Festival of the Arts, Allen Tiegreen, Iris Lee, Lev Mills, judges.
Ms. Royal is a member of the High Museum of Art, Atlanta and the Jules Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, Auburn University.
