Deanna`s career as a painter began in 1978. A resident of Marietta, Georgia, Deanna uses the mediums of oil and watercolor, exhibiting in local galleries and in her home state of North Carolina. Deanna participates with other professional and local artists continuing her art education. When working plein air or in the art studio, Deanna is first drawn to a subject by the play of light across the surface of a landscape or figure. Deanna believes that being able to see what lies beneath the surface is a gift and stimulates the expression that is uniquely one`s own. Then begins the planning process on paper, moving toward the moment when the brush becomes an extension of the hand. After a few brushstrokes and many painstaking decisions, the realization that you have been transported to a tranquil state of creativity is a joy! Deanna draws on her understanding of depth perception and her love of color to bring a work to a conclusion.
