Jane Gibout, a native of Chicago, studied at the University of Wyoming and The American Academy of Art, where she was first introduced to the medium of pastel. It is the atmospheric quality of pastel, which has drawn her to the medium. Ordering the rich colors and complexities of pattern in a landscape offer infinite opportunities to convey themes of peace, serenity and intimacy, which she thrives for in each work. She wants to share the emotion she feels for the subject with the viewer. Jane is a signature member of the Southeastern Pastel Society.
