`Marsh at East Beach II` 13 x 12 pastel |

| Susan Doubleday |
Painting is something I have always wanted to do. Light and color on a subject inspire me to create visual playgrounds for the viewer using representational landscapes and sometimes a still life. I draw energy from my surroundings, places I have visited and elements that I find visually arresting. My passion is creating works of art that trigger emotional responses. As an artist, I struggle at times with the difficulty to capture the pure essence of a stimulating experience and to portray, describe or reveal what that means to me on paper. Painting is far more than just making pretty pictures. Working intuitively, and using a growing knowledge of my chosen mediums, I hope to provide the viewer with a visual escape. A connection emerges as each piece comes to completion. My goal has always been to create paintings that demonstrate growth and provide enjoyable experiences for me as well as the viewer.
